What started as a passion for helping young people through tennis has grown into a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities through education, mentorship, leadership development, and community support.
Every child reached, every lesson taught, and every life impacted has become part of the Friends of Jamaica story.
The Beginning
Friends of Jamaica Non-Profit Tennis Academy & Enrichment Center was founded on a simple belief: every young person deserves access to opportunities that can help them succeed in life.
Recognizing the challenges many youth face in underserved communities throughout Montego Bay, the organization began working to provide structured tennis instruction, positive mentorship, and a safe environment where young people could learn, grow, and develop confidence.
What started with a commitment to helping a small number of children quickly grew into a broader mission focused on youth empowerment and community impact.
More Than a Tennis Program
As the organization grew, it became clear that the needs of young people extended beyond athletics alone.
Friends of Jamaica expanded its efforts to include educational support, leadership development, scholarship opportunities, mentorship programs, and community engagement initiatives.
Today, tennis remains at the heart of the organization, but the mission extends far beyond the court—helping young people build the skills, character, and confidence needed to succeed in every area of life.

Friends of Jamaica continues to serve youth and families throughout Montego Bay by providing access to sports, education, mentorship, and personal development opportunities.

Friends of Jamaica is committed to expanding opportunities for young people throughout Montego Bay and surrounding communities by using tennis as a pathway to education, leadership, and lifelong success. Our goal is to help students pursue academic and athletic scholarships while promoting tennis as a viable career and profession.
Looking ahead, we aim to develop future tennis champions, increase participation and leadership opportunities for girls, strengthen academic support programs, and create a safe, nurturing environment where every child can reach their full potential.
Our long-term vision is bold: to help Jamaica produce future Grand Slam and US Open champions while developing leaders who will give back to their communities and inspire the next generation. Every student, volunteer, donor, and partner plays an important role in making that vision a reality.
